What is Documentary Wedding Photography?
Documentary wedding photography, in my opinion, is about capturing moments in time via photos—not simply the appearance of objects. Documentary photography is characterized as the type of photography used to document noteworthy occurrences. This phrase was used mainly in the context of “important to history & news.” However, I think it perfectly captures the essence of wedding photography.
Wedding documentary photography records moments without editing or staged shots. It’s not like there are fluorescent studios or repetitive tasks to complete.
There won’t be an abundance of helpers scurrying around either. And very little of what is going on to “get the shot” is interrupted. Honestly, it comes down to narrating the narrative as truthfully and genuinely as you can.
Thus, in my opinion, a documentary wedding photographer makes as few interruptions as possible during the day. capturing and recording the day as it truly unfolds, with few manufactured moments and disruptions.
WHAT IS CANDID WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
That fleeting moment when someone is acting naturally and not at all guided by the camera is perfectly captured in candid photography. This is most frequently captured in wedding photos when attendees laugh aloud, weep, or respond to speeches is candid wedding photography.
Some conventional photographers may take a few posed pictures of the couple during the wedding ceremony. However, a documentary wedding photographer or a candid photographer will look for small things that will be funny, entertaining, and will be something not posed.
A skilled photographer will not only concentrate on what other people are focusing on. They will see everything else going on in addition to that.

WILL DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY INCLUDE GROUP PHOTOS?
Indeed! A wedding day is not easily transformed into a fully documented event. There will be times when you’d like some guidance. For instance, your photographer will undoubtedly need to step in and provide guidance when organizing big family gatherings.
Your photographer may provide you with some guidance and signals to assist you know what to do on the day of your couple’s photographs. Ultimately, the majority of us aren’t used to being in wedding pictures or being in the camera for several hours every day.
EXAMPLE OF IDEAS ABOUT DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
During the wedding process, the photographer often captures the couple holding hands, looking up, and everyone posing while the photographer takes the photo. However, these photos can break the flow of the day and can be frustrating. As a Documentary Wedding Photographer, we love these complex and deep photographs as it takes time to really see all that is going on and therefore you sense the story within the photograph. We have a portfolio of our Photography. You can look at our photographs in our Website portfolio.
Our focus is not to pose you for hours on end on your wedding day. Even amid all the happenings of the wedding day, I aim to create interesting in-the-moment candid photos that aren’t just cameras clicking at everything but instead intentionally creating artistic photos through candid documentary moments.
Part of the storytelling aspect of documentary photographs is finding some of the quiet moments in between moments to help build a total story for a bride and groom. For example, when the bride looks for her groom secretly, when she decides to look in the mirror for her makeup.
